Overall Energies for 2017

Mother's Love

Primary Energies for 2017

“There is a Chinese curse which says ‘May he live in interesting times.’ Like it or not we live in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but they are also more open to the creative energy of men [and women] than any other time in history.

~Robert F. Kennedy, June 1966~

Introductory Note

When looking at 2017 from a Mystical Numerology perspective, there are three primary energies that are factors to consider. First, 2017 is a “10” Universal Year (2+0+1+7 = 10). Second, this is “Year 5” of the new long cycle on the New Mayan Calendar. And finally, it carries the “17” energy because it is year 17 of the new century. What follows is a detailed description of each of these energies and how they are likely to affect us throughout the year.

“10” Universal Year

“The purpose of life is undoubtedly to know oneself. We cannot do it unless we learn to identify ourselves with all that lives. … The instrument of this knowledge is boundless, selfless service.”
~Mohandas K. Gandhi~

Mystical Aspects: It helps to remember that “10” is the energy of the Higher Realms and the Infinity Grid that connects everything, everywhere. This means two things. First, you will feel and be affected by what is happening in the world at large even more than in previous years. And second, you can call on the Ancestors and the Angelic energies for help more easily. With all the current turmoil in the world, this is a good thing. Something is shifting and transforming on fundamental levels this year. Old energy is clearing out. Something new is being born. And yet, birth is a process that is both chaotic and painful. Mothers can relate to this.

Indeed, the “10” energy is about Mothers. As Rudyard Kipling said, “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.” Already this year, on 21-January, we have witnessed the power of millions of women – mothers and future mothers – marching and rallying in some 670 cities around the world to make their voices heard.

Artemis, who is the protector of childbirth and labor, is one of the carriers of the energy for 2017. This is another sign that women have a pivotal role to play in the coming months in leading the way (giving birth) to the mass awakening that is occurring.

Although we may not be able to predict the outcomes, the energies and actions this year combine to create a clarion call to awaken the masses from their slumber. It is no longer an option to sit idly on the fence and watch the parade go by. It is time to wake up, rise up, and make our collective voices heard! As the poet William Stafford said, “It is important that awake people be awake, … the darkness around us is deep.”

We can take heart that Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, also symbolizes another aspect of this year’s energy. If the start of this year is any indication of what the rest of the year will bring, we may need the help of Ganesh and our better angels to help us negotiate the hurdles we are facing.

Collective Aspects: 2017 represents the doorway into a new world. Objective reality is malleable and collective shifts on the level of mass society are taking place. What was hidden can now be seen. What we consider to be the manifest world and the material domain is being redefined. The global ecosystem is in flux, and it is not comfortable. Some people are clinging to the past with their fingernails, teeth and toes dug in, and striking out in reactionary and fearful ways in an effort to turn back the tide of change. These people will ultimately fail, but will make life for the rest of us more difficult for a time. Our job is to hold to the light, have compassion, walk our talk and stand up for what we believe.

This is a time for “ubuntu,” a Zulu word that means (roughly translated), “I am who I am because of other people.” In other words, we are all connected. None of us can be all that we are meant to be without the help of others, the community, society and world in which we live and breathe.

In this year, despite the nationalistic and isolationist forces that are working to pull us collectively inward and create social distance between factions – and maybe because of them – it will become more apparent than ever before that the time of separation is over. We are bound together with the common threads that weave the web of life. What harms one of us, affects us all. When we disconnect from the collective knowledge and wisdom we suffer. When we think or feel we must do it all ourselves (whatever “it” is), we ultimately fail. Our brightest future takes all of us working together cooperatively as a team.

The dark shadow of the collective energy for 2017 creates cultural instability, spawned by a kind of collective madness to which a portion of the population has succumbed. This is a year that pits separatism against universalism. Watch for signs of gangsterism and the criminal underworld attempting to take control. Be alert for attempts at societal mind control. This is a year when even mass hysteria is possible. In the face of this potential darkness, it is more important than ever that you shine your light more brightly. Stay centered and walk your talk.

Practical Aspects: A “10” year is a time of outcomes. “10” is the stage at which creation is complete and physical manifestation occurs. This means that what you have been working on now can become an objective reality. During this year, something is being completed and you are stepping up to a new level – ideally to a higher level in both service and responsibility.

It is good to take some time to stop, reflect upon, digest and integrate your life experiences and accomplishments over the past nine years, and carefully consider what is now emerging.

A “10” period is also a time of new beginnings, a time of renewal. A new path may be stretching out before you that will take you in a different direction – something that already is happening on a collective level.

2017 is a period of transition and transformation. It is a favorable time to launch new projects, ventures, or relationships. It is an auspicious time to make life changes. And sometimes, life changes are thrust upon you, imposed in a way that is uninvited. If this is the case, it is helpful to know that a new door is opening that may bring something even better that fits your higher purpose.

A “10” period often brings more clarity and certainty, but sometimes this comes as a result of struggle. This is a year to sharpen your intellect, find the answers you seek and achieve greater self-knowledge. It is a good time to gain understanding, make decisions, put plans into action, and ultimately feel more secure about desired future outcomes – even though many things seem to be up in the air and turning somersaults at the moment. It is good to remember that Ganesh symbolizes the energy of 2017 and brings the power to overcome obstacles and move forward.

This year supports pioneers who lead the way for others, and the pioneering spirit to push up against boundaries to create something new. It also brings the ability to lead, or transform things around you. It is a good time to step forward and take personal responsibility for a project or activity – at home, at work, or in the community. What you accomplish now can be both growthful and purposive, and is in harmony with the energy of this period that supports being decisive and taking practical action.

This is a year for organizers, and those who can energize others to take action. This is a powerful year for social reformers who speak truth to power. We have already seen an effect of this energy in the women’s marches and rallies around the world on 21-January. It all started with an effort on social media for women to stand up and have their voices heard. Remember, you can also be a catalyst for positive change this year, so stand up and be heard!

Your ability to be empathic and connect at an emotional level with others is strengthened during this year. You may find yourself feeling more outgoing and friendly. So, this is a good year for socializing, making friends, starting relationships, and adding more romance to your life.

Shadow Aspects: The carriers for the shadow energy for 2017 are Thanatos (symbolizing death) and the Elemental Underworld. Something is ending; the old order is dying. Destabilization is another shadow energy for a “10” year, and we can certainly see this playing out in the early days of the Trump administration. The power of the storm is also an aspect of this year, and may be a foreshadowing of events and rough winds to come.

On a more practical level, you can feel bogged-down, tangled up, and blocked energetically during this year. A variety of emotions can create mental and emotional immobility, including worry, aguish, or even paranoia. Easy to do in the current political environment in many countries around the world. Remember, this is just the circus sideshow that has come to town to entertain us for a while and give a wake-up call to the sleeping. What is really important is what is happening on inner levels.

Here is a prescription for better health in 2017: Movement is important to stay in balance this year. So, if you are feeling stuck, move! Walk, run, exercise, jump up and down, dance around the house, or simply get up from the couch and walk to the kitchen and back. Move!

The energy of this year makes you more susceptible to making careless mistakes, and this can cause you to feel naïve, stupid and even irrational. If this happens, break your routine. Stop. Find some quiet space to reflect and find the lessons being presented in what is happening. Let things settle before getting back into action.

This can also be a year of calamity, crisis and breakdown. It can be a time of personal darkness. If so, life is asking you to transform in some way, to find completion in some aspect of your life before moving forward. Remember that even though you must go through the experience by yourself, you don’t have to do it alone. Reach to your support network for help. Get help from your community.

You may encounter people on your path who are arrogant, egotistical, and tactless and divisive. (I have a few high-profile politicians and government leaders in mind). Do your best to not allow these people to take you out of your center by becoming angry and defensive, or sarcastic and ridiculing. More than likely, a life change is occurring and a deep shift is taking place inside of you. Work on yourself and your own self-esteem. Remember, this is a temporary period. Things will change, and will likely get better.

Year 5 of the New Sun Cycle

“Change is the process by which the future invades our lives”

~Alvin Toffler~

Mystical Aspects: The “5” is the Goddess energy of the feminine archetype. It is mysticism and the connection with the astral dimension and with ancestral spirits. “5” is the number of precognitive dreams, clairaudience, mediumship and intuitive insight – the bridges between the silent voice of Spirit and the open hearts that hear it. Ideally, in a “5” year, we can more easily achieve Cosmoconsciousness, a state of being that is beyond the normal boundaries of space and time. It is a kind of supraliminal mind existing above the threshold of normal consciousness that creates an experience of expanded maximum awareness and is connected with All-That-Is.

In a “5” year, Spirit reaches down to touch your heart, and to infuse you with knowing and the power to conceive of and create new things. It is the number of divine longing that urges you forward to manifest your dreams. It is very expansive and hard to handle at times, like drinking light from a cosmic fire hose.

The other part of the “5” energy is this, and it can be uncomfortable. You aren’t in control this year, at least not in the way you think. Spirit is really in the driver’s seat. It is Spirit who takes charge of the outcomes. She may also send you visions and insights but in ways that are often unbidden and uninvited. Sometimes, the Spirit of Life takes hold of you (or the family, community, country and planet) and shakes things up – like a medicine bottle that says, “Shake well before using!”

Collective Aspects: This year, there is an evolutionary impulse that is moving us, collectively, toward our best selves and the highest expression of our humanity. From behind the scenes, the energy is paving the way for universal compassion and working together in mutual support on behalf of the common good – despite all current evidence to the contrary.

This is a year that favors collaborative diplomacy over an iron fist, community involvement over going it alone. It is a year of social change when we, through our collective efforts, can have more-than-normal impact. But, and this is a big one, we have to get involved. As President Obama said in his departing speech, we have to lace up our shoes and get involved. We have to stand up, rise up and raise our voices in unison to be heard. We can no longer be complacent. We have to take action. We must call, write, email, text or tweet our representatives, senators, Members of Parliament, and other local and national government leaders. After all, they work for us! Make your voice heard! We must also organize and run for office. This is the year that supports all of those efforts.

Practical Aspects: The “5” year is usually fast-paced, upbeat and expansive. Its energy can be akin to drinking water from a fire hose and, therefore, sometimes hard to handle. The “5” merges the infinite, spiritual dimension and the personal, emotional dimension of life. It wants freedom, change and spontaneity, and doesn’t like limitations or boundaries. Indeed, you may feel drawn to go on a quest or journey to explore new potentials and possibilities, develop a new idea or start a new job. It can be a time of creativity, learning and personal growth.

In a “5” year, things are dynamic, fluid and in constant flux. It can be a very creative time but it requires flexibility and a willingness to be spontaneous. Living in the moment is a desirable quality for a “5” year because things are changeable and will frequently shift. The energy of a “5” year doesn’t really play well with those that have a need to adhere to strict schedules. If you are one of these people, be prepared to deal with shifts and changes.

Desire and pleasure, laughter and pain, chaos and harmony all of fall under the “5” energy.

During a “5” year, friends, family and community are in the spotlight. It is a time to strengthen family and social bonds. This is a time that favors and supports working together with others – especially in a common cause and for the common good.

It is a good time to ask for a partner or love relationship. And, it can bring greater success in business or in your job.

The energy of this period is about the flow of abundance and prosperity into and through your life. That said, the best use of money this year is to keep it in circulation and working for you rather than hoarding it. 2017 is an auspicious time to ask for both personal and community abundance. The key is to ask for what you need and then get your ego-mind out of the way. Something larger than you is in charge during this year!

Shadow Aspects: This can be a time of chaos. You can feel more impulsive than normal, and have difficulty focusing on practical things. You can be overeager and too much in a hurry. This can result in hurry-worry and even recklessness. The “5” energy wants freedom and tends towards restlessness and scattering energies in too many directions at once. As a result, breaking commitments and being unfaithful to partners, beliefs or ideas one of the downsides during this period. Consider that this period is helping you to learn to create a sense of dynamic but sustainable balance in your life. It is prompting you to work with a focused intention to create what most inspires you.

The other shadow side of the “5” energy is feeling blocked, stuck, unable to free yourself from old habits, and being low on energy and undemonstrative with friends and loved ones. Obsessiveness and addiction is a severe example. Sometimes, a fear of lack is what begins the downward spiral, causing you to withdraw into a suit of protective armor and become covetous of what others have, be it money, influence or power.

This can be a time of emotional pain, grief and fundamental insecurity. If this happens, remember two things. First, this is a temporary situation. It is going to pass. Second, realize that to transform these heavy emotions, you must allow yourself to fully feel them (as opposed to going into denial). You don’t have to feel them for very long, but you do have to feel them.

Experiencing emotional pain may just be an “AFGO” – Another ‘Freaking’ Growth Opportunity. Yet, “5” is the number of karma. So, it may be that karmic residue has walked out onto center stage to be recognized, dealt with and cleared away. Once you’ve processed the feelings, you no longer need to hang onto them. Give them the hook. Drag them off center stage and lovingly give them the boot!

Government & Politics: There are conflicting sides of a “5” year as it applies to government and politics. It is the energy of “Brexit,” fiscal conservatism, political action committees (PACs), and the rise of populism and the right. On the other hand, it is anti-authoritarian, gives rise to a backlash, and energizes the struggle for freedom while supporting civil institutions.  So, with the Trump/Bannon objective of demolishing the administrative state, we’ll just have to wait and see how all this plays out. My bet is that they are going to have more difficulty than they imagined in accomplishing their objective.

Year 17 of the New Century

“If we want to talk about freedom, we must mean freedom for others as well as ourselves, and we must mean freedom for everyone inside our frontiers as well as outside.”

~Wendell Willkie~

Mystical Aspects: On a mystical level, the “17” energy promotes the spiritual union of the four aspects of the psyche – intuiting/spritual, thinking/mental, feeling/heart, and sensing/physical. This gives the kind of overall balance that can be transformative in the way that one interacts with the world. It can produce a spherical state consciousness in which inner vision is heightened, holistic seeing becomes the norm, and one more frequently experiences direct knowing, e.g., knowing without knowing how you know.

Practical Aspects: The “17” year is brings balance and sure-footedness through movement. It is a year that favors doers. It is an excellent time to get into action, be enterprising, and move forward to achieve desired goals. This includes finding the job you desire. The “17” energy gives a helpful boost to professionals in the material, cultural and spiritual worlds. It is a good time to explore new ideologies, put together a business plan, and do some empirical research or quantitative analysis. At certain times, this period can be used to peer into the future.

This can be a time of change since the “17” energy represents metamorphosis – the power for the caterpillar to become the butterfly. It is a time that emphasizes individual identity, personal autonomy and self-realization. So, it is a good time to make significant personal shifts, and confront whatever may be holding you back from being all you can be. You may also find that you can have a transforming influence on both people and events during this period.

A “17” year highlights the quest for understanding, including the search for the deepest truths that undergird our objective reality, but also for promoting understanding between individuals and groups of people. “17” is the energy of togetherness, but also of dialogue. It is a good time to bring people together to explore ideas and/or forge a collective vision of the future. It is a period that favors group processes, public relations work, and healing processes.

The “17” year is an auspicious time to find greater balance in your life. The energy of the period helps to bring inner balance as well as harmony with the natural world. Your ability to sense things on a kinesthetic, body level is likely to be stronger this year, so pay attention to the messages your body gives you through your belly brain or gut instincts. Indeed, one has access to the ground state of pure being during this period and the psychokinetic abilities that can flow from it – something to experiment with, for sure. It can be a time for miracles and miracle workers!

Movement is often important to achieve balance during this year, so consider integrating exercise of some sort into your daily routine. Moving your body not only brings greater balance and helps with physical conditioning, it also opens a channel to higher wisdom and heightened physical senses and sensual ecstasy during a “17” period. Kundalini meditation is especially effective during this time.

You may also find that any artistic abilities that you may have are enhanced during this period – especially those that involve working with your hands or body in some way. Artistic endeavors can be another pathway to balance and harmony at this time.

Shadow Aspects: The positive side of the “17” can bring power and focus. The shadow side of the “17 brings negativity and a tendency toward shallowness and narrowness of thinking – but not necessarily your thinking.

You might find yourself confronting (or being confronted by) political or religious fundamentalism in some form or fashion. You may feel misunderstood. You can feel subservient to forces beyond your control or, alternately, entangled in issues that cause feelings of possessiveness, and/or create separateness that can include estrangement in relationships or marital strife. Be sure that you don’t overstep your boundaries and trample on others during this time – as we can see the Trump administration doing in the USA.

The shadow of the “17” includes nervousness, temperamental or argumentative energies, and rebelliousness. It can be a catalyst for opportunistic behaviors and controversial actions. During a “17” year, you can be prompted to take a walk on the wild side and explore things considered taboo by society. Take care, during this period people can binge on food, alcohol, or other sensory indulgences.

At a collective level, the “17” period can be a time of purification that brings dangerous times and the popular hysteria that often follows in its wake. It can be a dire time of mournfulness when people feel grief-stricken.

Although the “17” has its own path on the Medicine Wheel and therefore I don’t reduce it, others often do. In its reduced form, it becomes an “8.” Here’s what Joseph Rael has to say about the “8” energy for 2017:

This year 2017 we will be in the vibration of Number 8: WHEH-LEH – the horizontal dimension.

At the number eight, we have to fall. We lie down to rest because inspiration is also saying we have to fall into the foundation of life.  (The Way of Inspiration by Joseph Rael)

This “falling” feels entirely consistent with how 2017 is unfolding. So, if you feel a bit like you/we are in a surreal free-fall this year, Joseph’s words will give you some context and help you realize that this is not really a bad thing.

Next year will be a time for planting seeds for future hope and success.

Courage may be needed to take a leap of faith to balance your inner and outer life.

Shadow: If you feel like you are blocked, and that life is dull, or you have no good choices available to you, you are caught in today’s shadow energy. It will pass.

Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump – Who is Likely to Win?

hillary-clinton-donald-trump

Note: I wrote the bulk of this article back in April, at least two months before Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump became the respective nominees of their parties. At that time, Bernie Sanders was still in the equation on the Democratic side, and John Kasich and Ted Cruz were still in the running on the Republican side. This analysis is still good, meaning that what has transpired has lived up to what I describe below. Accordingly, I have updated the article only to reflect the reality that Clinton and Trump are the major party candidates.

Introduction

This has been an unprecedented, crazy 2016 presidential election cycle in the U.S. that has crossed every line and broken every rule of civil discourse. If you are reading this, I imagine that you will agree that we’ve never seen anything like it before in your lifetime. Hopefully, we will never see it ever again.

It is a “9” Universal Year energy (2+0+1+6 = 9), and “9” years reinforce the inherent qualities that we all individually have. This is true also for each of the presidential candidates. This can make it a powerful time when your life feels more “on purpose,” and on-track. But, it also works with the negative personality characteristics. If you are naturally nasty, narcissistic, racist, and misogynistic, or are a bombastic blowhole, materialistic, power-hungry, don’t play well with others, and in the race mostly for yourself and your ego, this is a year that will magnify your character flaws – especially because you are a candidate running for the highest office of the land, and have a national media presence to broadcast your comments, thoughts and ideas.

The other thing about a “9” Year is that it is a harvesting year. You harvest the fruits of past deeds – and misdeeds. Each of us is experiencing this to differing degrees in our own lives, as are each of the candidates.

A “9” year brings things back around. This includes the reappearance of people and relationships that seemed no longer part of your life, and issues that you thought were mostly settled. On a collective level, this is certainly the case as difficult issues resurface as tests, issues such as race relations, women’s rights, gender inequality, abortion, voting rights, police brutality, the pervasive power of big banks and big business, and the growing gap between rich and poor.

A few of these issues we thought, if not completely settled, that at least we had made significant progress in a positive direction. This year, all of these issues are up for review and in our faces again as reactionary forces work to turn the clock back to the 1950s. A “9” year is like that. It tests what we say we stand for – individually and collectively. It gives a chance to choose once again the kind of society we wish to have. The energy of this year brings up our worst fears, but it also gives us the opportunity to make a monumental shift as we step forward – if we are mature enough to have it.

One additional note about a “9” year: it brings serious challenges to the entrenched “establishment” by “anti-establishment” energy. It pits traditionalist or conservative values against progressive or liberal ones. We saw this playing out in both the Republican and Democratic nomination races, and it is continuing in the presidential election process. Trump is the clear anti-establishment outsider on the Republican side, and Bernie Sanders, as a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, played this same role on the Democratic side. And, Hillary Clinton clearly represents the establishment. From a big-picture level, this classic outsider versus insider challenge is another way the “9” year energy tests us on collectively held beliefs. We get to reaffirm current beliefs and policies, or throw some of the old beliefs aside to try out new ones.

This, then, is the backdrop against which the 2016 presidential race is taking place.

By the way, “Democrat” is a “9” energy, and 2016 is a “9” year. This bodes well for electing a Democrat to the White House in November.

That said, let’s take a closer look at the presidential nominees of the two major parties – Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald J. Trump.

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Clinton’s Mystical Numerology chart shows that she has a strong connection with the people, and an interest in building strong communities and a strong society. She carries the energy to be not only a leader (her “8” Path), but also an inspired one. This is because she has strong “11” energy. This Master Number shows up as both her Life Purpose and as her fully adult Power. Despite the perception that she is the establishment candidate, the “11” energy she carries is that of the trailblazer, change agent, reformer, healer and teacher. It gives her creativity, adds to her ability to reach out to connect with the people, and to carry a mass movement forward – even if it is Bernie Sanders who started it!.

To both her credit and detriment, Hillary Clinton is more grounded and pragmatic than Donald Trump. It is important to her to know the fundamental answers to important questions, and how to get things done. Indeed, putting ideas into action and getting things done is how she shows her love for people. It is simply how she is wired at a core level of her being. It’s why she traveled more miles than any other previous Secretary of State, and visited over 100 countries.

This pragmatic quality is a good thing, and would make for a hard-working President. But, this same pragmatic quality makes her a less inspiring campaigner than was Bernie Sanders in the primary, or Barack Obama was in 2008. I’m sure that Hillary Clinton wonders why people don’t see her innate practicality as a bigger virtue.

Her chart shows that Hillary Clinton really wants to connect with people, but has a tough time doing it on an emotional level. Being a little less serious, and more emotionally present is a growth area for her.

Hillary Clinton’s “modes of perception” profile shows her to be quite intuitive, a creative thinker, not prone to get emotionally stuck, and someone who has a need to take action on a physical level in support of people and relationships. This is actually a profile that many people would wish to have.

The Shadow: The major downside to Clinton’s energetic profile is the potential to get trapped in materialism and power games. Particularly as a woman in American politics, mastery of both money and power has been required to generate her impressive resume. Yet, it is also why people question her motives. They sense that she is not quite as selfless as Bernie Sanders, and this is probably true. But, it is clear that she is more selfless than Donald Trump. The potential for Hillary Clinton to be seduced by the dark side is definitely there. My bet is that what people read as insincerity is actually a product of two things: 1) A hunger to be the first woman president and break that loftiest of glass ceilings in American politics; and 2) an awkwardness in connecting with people on an emotional level. She has also been on the political stage for 30 years during which time she has been frequently attacked. This also seems to cause her to wall herself off and be secretive.

In spite of this, her overall chart shows that Hillary Clinton can be a good president who will work hard on behalf of the people.

Energies for 2016: The force of Destiny is pulling Hillary Clinton forward this year. She is carrying the kind of powerful energies that show she has a very good chance to win the presidency – an “11” Year Purpose (the Connector), a “5” Year Path (the Bridge), a “7” Opportunity (Achievement), and an “8” Focus (Power & Leadership). That said, the “5” and “11” combination also make things changeable, so it promises  to be a wild ride with Donald Trump nipping at her heels most of the way to the November 8th election.

Donald J. Trump

Donald Trump is an enigma when it comes to his Mystical Numerology chart. His numbers show great power and potential that could be used for good purposes. His Life Purpose and Opportunity Numbers are both “8s,” the energy of Leadership and Power. “8” is also the number of pioneering and entrepreneurship, and also of competence, ability, and integrity. “8” is also the number of collaboration, teams, community ties and love – all aspects that Trump seems to be lacking.

His Path number is a “9,” the number of the Decision-Maker, Executive, Extrovert, and is also the number of Fortune – all of which makes perfect sense when compared with the man. Yet, people with the “9” energy are also quite often caretakers, diplomats, and compassionate leaders who promote community values and social cooperation. They are people who build foundations by believing in their dreams and making them a practical reality. None of these qualities fit comfortably with what we are seeing with Donald Trump as candidate. He may well believe in his own dreams, but he is not a builder – despite his own protestations to the contrary. Indeed, his rhetoric is divisive and, like George Wallace in the 1968 election, seeks to play on the worst fears of a frustrated public. He sews the seeds of separation and, through his words and actions, tears things down rather than building things up.

His Legacy Number is a “7” and this gives him drive, personal determination, and the desire to be an authority. The “7” – “9” combination leads to him being an authoritarian figure who would be more comfortable being a dictator like Vladimir Putin than a president.

His Soul Purpose, Power and Passion Numbers are all “12s.” This is the number of business, salesmanship, deal-making, and the energy of the fearless and self-assured risk-taker and crusader – qualities that are on display in the man we see as Donald Trump, the candidate. Other aspects of the “12” include service, honesty, fair play, and social justice. These more positive qualities seem to be sadly lacking from the man we see as the Republican nominee.

The “12” is the initiator and inspirer, the person of big dreams who has the ability to take us in new directions. And, for all of his bluster and bombast, it can be said that Trump is doing this quite effectively. We just don’t like the direction he is taking us. He has shattered the Republican Party and the conservative movement in America. It is clear that in the post-Trump era, the Republican Party will have to recreate and redefine itself. Maybe this will turn out to be a good thing. Lord knows, the values of the Tea-Party hijacked Republican Party are causing honest Abe Lincoln, the first Republican president, to turn over and over in his grave.

Donald Trump is, by nature, a doer, who values getting into action. The old business adage, “Ready, Fire, Aim,” fits him well. He is intuitive, shoots from the hip, and has a tendency to scatter his energies in too many directions at once. He is a fluid and adaptable thinker, but he also puts a virtual wall around his emotions. While he may be good at telling people where they stand with him, he is not comfortable with revealing how he genuinely feels about things. This is one of the reasons that he always attacks his critics and detractors. If he can keep his opponents off-balance, and make the conversation about them, he won’t have to reveal his own insecurities.

Like Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump’s Mayan Birthdate is “Aqabal,” the energy of endings and beginnings. When the positive side of this energy is used, it can be the catalyst for great good. Perhaps, in revealing the darkness that still exists in our society, Trump is bringing the potential for more light and greater good by showing us what needs healing. If that’s the case, then Trump will have been true to his Mayan Birth energy.

The Shadow: The darker side of Donald Trump is his narcissism (10 Year Purpose at birth), his egotistical, misogynistic and authoritarian qualities (all “9” shadow aspects), and the fact that he is an unrepentant serial liar (a “7” shadow aspect). The divisiveness and ability to play on the fear and anger of the voters are shadow aspects of the “7”–“12” combination in his chart.

I read recently that Republicans argue that President Obama’s executive actions have been a threat to constitutional order (even though Obama has issued far less executive orders than his Republican predecessors). The executive order Republicans are really referring to is the one that protects some 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation.

If it were true that Obama’s executive orders are truly a threat to constitutional order, just pause to consider what Donald Trump might do as President with the similar executive powers. He would also have the wide-ranging powers of the Justice Department to use if he felt similarly blocked by Congress (as Obama has), or – and this is the real scary one – if he felt personally aggrieved (and he always does). He has demonstrated no ability to restrain his natural impulse to bully anyone he considers to be an opponent or adversary. What do you imagine he would he do as President?

Energies for 2016: Trump has powerful energies for 2016. His Year Purpose is a “44/8” and “44” is the number of “power.” His Year Path is a “7” which gives him the personal drive and determination to overcome obstacles, especially in combination with his “15” Year Focus that adds follow-through and at least some modicum of practicality. His Mayan Year is “”9 Aj,” an energy that gives him influence with his block of disenfranchised voters. His Attainment and Task Numbers are both “9s,” another factor that is propelling him to the forefront in 2016, a “9” year. Sadly, the shadow side of the “7” and “9 Aj” combination is intolerance, divisiveness and a crusading rebelliousness. I believe that Donald Trump actually began his campaign as a protest candidate, and then got caught up in his ego.

As powerful as his numbers are for this year, there are limits. His monthly energies forecast a bleed-off of the early energy and momentum of his campaign, especially after Mars goes retrograde April 17 and remains retrograde through the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, July 18-21. His Mystical Numerology chart confirmed that he was going to have trouble through the both the Republican and Democratic Conventions. Indeed Donald Trump and his inflated ego is his own worst enemy.

I made the prediction back in April – when I first published the core of this analysis – that Hillary Clinton would win the elections because her numbers are slightly stronger. But, I also predicted that Donald Trump would actually give her a serious run for her money. And it would be emotionally exhausting for the country. Both of these predictions still seem to be on-target with the results that are emerging with less than three weeks left in the election campaign.

No matter how it turns out, I will be very glad when it is finally over!

This, then, is the backdrop against which the 2016 presidential race is taking place.

Let us take a look at each of the remaining major candidates in the race. I will start with a Mystical Numerology overview and analysis of the two Democratic Party candidates: Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. I will follow up with the Republican Party candidates that are still standing: Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich.

Mystical Numerology Energies and Terminology: There is a definition of terms at the end of the article if you need it.

The Democrats

In any discussion of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the first thing to note is that there are a lot of energetic similarities in their charts. They are actually more energetically alike than they are different.

For instance, “6” is the number of the “People,” and both share a “6” Soul Purpose. This number also shows that relationships are important to them. Both Clinton and Sanders need to feel a sense of belonging to be in balance.

“8” is the number of the Leader. It bestows competence, ability and power, and generally brings good fortune. Both Hillary and Bernie have an “8” Life Path, meaning that the “8” energy has a lot to do with how they do what they do in the world. It can give them the needed energy to be pioneering and outspoken. Equally important is that the positive aspect of the “8” is also about integrity, love and faith.

Both also have a “13” Legacy Number. “13” is the number of the “Builder” and of the “Community.” It is the number of “Life,” and procreation. It shows an ability to find middle ground and joint solutions. It is the number of group destiny, social harmony and world peace. But, it also bestows the boldness and power to make paradigm shifts, big changes that reorient or redefine how we think about the world. These are good qualities to have in a President at this crucial time of accelerating change.

The combination of the “6” and “13” energies in the charts of Clinton and Sanders tells me that they aren’t in this election purely for themselves. Both of them want to do something for the people. In contrast, these important energies are missing in the charts of both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. This makes me suspicious that service to the people is not their primary motivation, and that there is something more self-serving going on.

By the way, “Democrat” is a “9” energy, and 2016 is a “9” year. This bodes well for electing a Democrat to the White House in November.

That said, the “5” and “11” combination also make things changeable, so it is going to be a wild ride with Bernie Sanders nipping at her heels most of the way to the convention in July.

Bernie Sanders

It is helpful to see Bernie Sanders against the backdrop of American history that included many influential progressives and democratic socialists. Most Americans have forgotten this important part of our history, but the activists of the past are responsible for many of the rights we take for granted today such as: the right to form unions, a progressive income tax, the federal minimum wage, social security and pensions, the eight-hour workday, and government subsidized healthcare. As Peter Dreier noted in a 2015 article, “The radical ideas of one generation are often the common sense of the next.”

If you are interested in reading more about the influential progressives and socialists that are an important part of American history, here is a link to Peter Dreier’s overview: https://www.thenation.com/article/fifty-most-influential-progressives-twentieth-century/

In this context, Bernie Sanders is an important voice for economic and social justice in our age. But he is part of a long tradition of activists, and stands firmly on the shoulders of earlier generations of radicals and reformers who changed the status quo of their day.

From a Mystical Numerology standpoint, Bernie also has the “8” energy of competence, ability and leadership. It shows up in the two most prominent places in his chart: his Life Purpose and Path. He also carries the “11” energy as his Power Number. This enables him to connect with people to create an outcry against the massive level of wealth and income inequality in America, and carry forward the movement for economic and social justice, a movement that Bernie is calling a political revolution. The “11” is the trailblazer, change agent and reformer. Sanders is all of these.

As previously noted, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton carry this trailblazer energy, and no matter which one becomes the Democratic candidate for president, they both would be breaking new ground. If elected, Bernie Sanders would be the first Jewish president and, turning 75 in September, the oldest to assume office (Ronald Reagan was 69). Hillary Clinton would become the first woman president.

Bernie Sanders’ Mayan Birth energy, “6 Aqabal,” is the energy of endings and beginnings, and this is reinforced by his “13” Legacy Number because Aqabal and the number “13” are linked. It is no surprise that Sanders is calling for an end to the economic policies that create income inequality and polarization of wealth, and the beginning of greater fairness (e.g. breaking up the big banks, diminishing the power of Wall Street, getting corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes, and so on). His “13” Legacy Number is also about working for the community, finding joint solutions, building something practical that will lead to greater economic fairness and social justice for all the people.

Bernie Sanders has a “12” Drive Number that makes him both a visionary, and high-energy campaigner. Coupled with the “7” energy he has for his Opportunity Number, this gives him lots of personal determination to move forward in the face of obstacles, as he has repeatedly demonstrated in the campaign. Everyone counted him out in the beginning, especially since he wasn’t taking money from Wall Street or big money people. In spite of this perceived disadvantage, he has raised over $185 million from 7 million small donors. Politicians can never again say that they have to be beholden to big money donors. Bernie has shown us all another way.

Bernie Sanders is both more emotional and intuitive than is Hillary Clinton. With an “E” as first vowel, the emotional energy, Sanders is able to more easily connect with people at a heart level. Clinton may be no less sincere, but she has a more difficult time connecting. Also, being more intuitive, Sanders has the ability to tap into the mass consciousness of our time, and this makes him a sparkplug who can ignite the passion of the people. His energetic profile shows him to be an explorer who pushes up against the boundaries on behalf of the people. He has an altruistic energy that shows that what he does is for selfless purposes. He is a good change-maker, and people naturally trust him.

The Shadow: Bernie Sanders can sometimes come across as a gruff, angry old man who his detractors see as impractical. He is less grounded than Hillary Clinton, and this gives rise to questions about how he would implement his ideas if elected, and especially if he were to face the kind of opposition that Barack Obama has had to deal with during his presidency.

Energies for 2016: Bernie Sanders also has very powerful energies for 2016. His Year Purpose is an “8” (Leadership & Power). His Year Path is an “11” (The Connector). His Opportunity and Task numbers are both “10s” that have helped him launch a credible campaign and push forward new ideas. His Mayan Year energy is 3 Tijax, and this gives him the power to go to the heart of things and cut away what is holding him (and us) back; it also gives him the potential to be a powerful healer.

His challenge for this year is that he is really not in control of the energies that are propelling him forward. He is a channel for something larger, and his candidacy is like riding a tiger. How far the tiger will take him is anyone’s guess, but his monthly energies are slightly less powerful than Hillary Clinton’s. It’s going to be very close, but it looks like Bernie’s road may come to an end at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia July (25-28). If I were a betting man, I’d wager that Hillary takes the nomination.

Donald John Trump

The “7” – “9” combination leads to him being an authoritarian figure.

These more positive qualities seem to be sadly lacking from the man we see as the potential Republican nominee.

The “12” is the initiator and inspirer, the person of big dreams who has the ability to take us in new directions. And, for all of his bluster, it can be said that Trump is doing this quite effectively.

He would also have the wide-ranging powers of the Justice Department to use if he felt similarly blocked by Congress (as Obama has), or – and this is the real scary one – if he felt personally aggrieved. He has demonstrated no ability to restrain his natural impulse to bully anyone he considers to be an opponent or adversary. What do you imagine he would he do as President?

Energies for 2016: Trump has powerful energies for 2016, especially as compared to the other Republican candidates for the nomination.

His Mystical Numerology chart confirms that it is going to be tough going for Trump through the convention. Should he somehow happen to emerge from the convention as the Republican candidate, it could be bad news. I think that Hillary or Bernie would still win (their numbers are slightly stronger), but he could actually give either of them a serious run for their money. And it would be emotionally exhausting for the country – well, at least for me and many of my friends!

Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz

Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz has an “A” for the first vowel of his birth name. And, in truth, he acts more like a “Rafael” than a “Ted” which has an emotional and expressive “E” for the first vowel. The first vowel says something about how a person processes information and views the world. The “A” in “Rafael” is mental energy. As a first vowel, it gives Cruz a quick mind and a logical way of looking at the world. It makes him smart. But there are two downsides.

First, it detracts from his ability to be spontaneous. He likes to have everything thought through and planned out, especially with a “4” Opportunity Number (another mental energy). Running against someone like Donald Trump who is very spontaneous and shoots from the hip, it puts Cruz at a disadvantage.

Second, the “A” as first vowel tends to make Cruz a purist who sees life in stark contrasts of white and black, Christian and all others, people who have been “saved,” thank ya Jesus, and all the others who are going to hell. Perhaps this is about what you’d expect from a man raised by a father who became an Evangelical Christian preacher after having a “born-again” experience. It was Cruz’s father who also told his son, “God has destined you for greatness.” And, this has obviously had a profound formative impact on Ted Cruz. Indeed, he has told his supporters that he is a Christian first, American second. For a potential leader of the free world, sworn to uphold the constitution, one wonders if being a “Christian first” wouldn’t be extremely problematic. It essence, it seems that Cruz wants to be the first “Preacher-in-Chief.”

“Ted” Cruz has a “19” Life Purpose number – the number of duty, and of the “Guru.” You can see that in how Cruz campaigns. He approaches it as if it is his duty to save American from its sinful ways (in his mind), and he’s destined to be the savior.

He has a “10” Drive number and a Mayan Birthday of “4 Ajpu,” and Ajpu is also connected with the number “10.” The positive aspect of the “10” energy makes him a seeker after clarity, meaning and understanding. “10s” want answers. It gives Cruz a drive to be an organizer and energizer, and to show others “the way.” The “10” energy supports rational analysis and is a good combination to have with the “A” first vowel energy that gives him a sharp mind.

This “10” energy also gives a connection to prophecy and the angelic realms which can be quite positive. But, if your grounding has been in fundamentalist evangelical Christianity, it can also be a problem – especially if you are a purist. Then, if you are driven to give people a direction, especially if you have been destined by God to do so, then “the way” is a narrow path that excludes Muslims and other faiths. And, if showing people “the way” means bombing Syria and ISIS back to the Stone Age, then so be it! Never mind the core teachings of Jesus being about love.

These tendencies are amplified by his “21” Life Path, which is the energy of “guidance,” as in receiving guidance from God that he is destined for greatness. The “21’ can be a very positive energy, but in the case of Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz, it adds to his delusions of grandeur.

Cruz has a “9” as a Legacy Number, and 2016 is a “9” year. His Year Purpose at birth is also a “9.” This energy can be about building foundations. It is the number of the executive and good fortune. It is also the number of the caretaker and diplomat. But, as with Donald Trump, this is also the “authoritarian,” especially with his “19” Life Purpose Number (the Guru).

His Power Number is a “13” which is the number of life and community and building something positive. I actually believe that Cruz himself believes that he is building a better way for the country. Unfortunately, the shadow of the “13” energy lies in fanaticism. If you don’t think this applies to Ted Cruz, consider that he is, by his own party’s admission, the most disliked man in the U.S. Senate. He doesn’t play well with others, and the reason he doesn’t is because he is fanatically devoted to showing people the right way, the Christian way and, by God, the only way. It’s what led him, as a Tea Party activist, almost single-handedly to shut down the government over a political dispute he could not win. This highlights his fanaticism but doesn’t reflect well on either his judgment or sense of restraint.

One of Ted Cruz’s Life Lessons is the “6,” and this is also his Tension Number. Remember, the “6” is about relationships and the people. It is no wonder that he is not well liked by his peers, and has a difficult time really connecting with people – at least not with people who don’t have evangelical or fundamentalist Christian leanings.

Shadow: I’ve integrated comments on the shadow aspects in with the main discussion because I couldn’t help myself. So, I will skip to his prospects for winning the nomination.

Energies for 2016: His Year Purpose is a “10” and his Year Path is a “13.” Both of these are powerful energies for launching something new, like putting together a national campaign. His Mayan Year Energy, “11 Keme,” is propulsive and gives him a boost, and it is also connected with the overall “9” energy for 2016. For these reasons, I can see why Cruz has made it as far as he has against Donald Trump.

That said, Trump has the somewhat more powerful numbers. My prediction is that it’s going to be a long slog for Cruz. He may very well block Trump from getting the 1236 bound delegates needed to win on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention. But, Cruz will have to win a floor fight to beat Trump. He has the organizing skills to accomplish this, but he doesn’t play well with others. If he actually wins the nomination, it will be because there is absolutely no alternative left to the Republican establishment.

Only one thing is for certain. It’s going to be entertaining.

John Richard Kasich

John Kasich is only still relevant to the 2016 election because of the very real prospect of a contested convention. The next two rounds of primaries on April 26 and May 1 will tell us more about how relevant he remains. I will save a Mystical Numerology analysis of Kasich until after then.

For now, suffice it to say that when Trump, Cruz and Kasich are in the same room, John Kasich is the only real adult. He is devoted to ideological conservatism in the way that Republicans should be proud of. He also has a heart, a track record, and the demonstrated ability to practice restraint and call “bullshit,” when necessary. In any other year, this might mean something more than it does in 2016.

We will have to wait to see what happens, but if Kasich were somehow to be chosen as a white knight at the Republican Convention in July, I would not be displeased.

Mystical Numerology Energies and Terminology

Here is a definition of a few of the Mystical Numerology terms, the boring stuff that I am parking here so I don’t have to define all the terms when I’m describing each of the presidential candidates. It is something you can come back to if necessary to reacquaint yourself with one of the terms. Use it as a resource, if needed.

  • Purpose Numbers: We each have an outer Life Purpose and an inner Soul Purpose. Both say something about “why” we are here in this life at this time. The Life Purpose has more to do with our outer actions. The Soul Purpose is like a higher purpose or something we carry in our heart-of-hearts as an inner motivation.
  • Mayan Birth Day: This adds another perspective to an individual’s purpose.
  • Life Path: The Path number offers insight into “how” our Purpose will unfold.
  • Legacy Number: This number says something important about what we will leave behind us when we transition out of the body. It often has an important connection with our work in the world.
  • Drive: This is the overall motivation that fuels our actions. It “drives” us to walk our path in order to achieve our purpose.
  • First Vowel: defines how we tend to interact with the world, and gather input. The first vowel is like the lenses we look through to see the world around us.
  • First Letter & First Letter Total: gives insight to the outer personality.
  • Power: A number that defines the fully-mature, adult power.
  • Opportunity: A combination of Life Purpose and Life Path numbers; it shows how best to balance the two energies.
  • Passion: The pathway of greatest energy flow that defines an individual’s passion or individuality.
  • Modes of Perception: A comprehensive look at how the individual interacts with the world.
  • Life Lesson: an important lesson in earlier life; generally integrated by mid-40s.
  • Tension Number: An energy that highlights an area of friction in a person’s life.
  • Missing Vowels: Areas of development.
  • Temporary Energies: Year Purpose, Year Path, Mayan Year, Year Opportunity, Attainment and Task Cycles, and current challenge – all give insight into the current energy for the individual in question and, of course, have a bearing on their fortunes.

The Impact of 2016’s “9” Energy on Democrats & Republicans

Bald Eagle

The names we have carry important and specific energies. So do the labels we give to things. Similar to the name we have, labels and words can also be said to have a Purpose. This has interesting implications for our politics, especially in 2016.

For example, in my system of Mystical Numerology, “Democrat” is a “9” energy (45/9) which we can call its Purpose; in a similar fashion, “Republican” carries a “13” energy (49/13) as its Purpose.

Stay with me here. 2016 is a “9” Year energy (2+0+1+6 = 9). In general, a “9” year reinforces the fundamental purpose of any entity. This is so because if you add 9 to any number, and then reduce the result by adding together its integers, it gives you the same reduced number that you started with.

What does that mean? Well, on a personal level, a “9” year, like 2016, reinforces your Life Purpose. This means that this year there is a good possibility that you will feel like your life is more on-track – at least this is the potential as the year progresses. You get to harvest rewards for the actions you have taken and the effort you have invested over the past 9 years – and this means both the good and the not-so-good. Issues that you thought were settled can come back up for review. People that you thought were out of your life may come back around. Life gives you a chance to review decisions that you’ve made, relationships that you have, and so forth. You get to keep what is working, and let go of what no longer fits. The rewards can be quite uplifting and pleasant, but the life review part can also feel like a major qualifying test that you must pass to get to the next level.

“9” years have not actually been very common until this century. There have been only 4 in your lifetime: 2016, 2007, 1998 and 1989. Think back and see if you can remember what was happening in each of those previous “9” years, and you may get some insights into how 2016 will unfold for you.

For instance, on a national level for the U.S. in 2007:

• Nancy Pelosi became the first female Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives;
• Senator Barack Obama of Illinois declared his candidacy for president of the U.S.;
• Steve Jobs announced the iPhone and changed the world forever;
• Scientists found a way to reprogram human skin cells to behave like embryonic stem cells – without having to make or destroy any embryos;
• The Space Shuttle Endeavor was successfully launched;
• The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Matthew Shepard Act – the first time that the House ever brought a gay rights bill to the floor for a vote;
• A shooting rampage took place on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA that left 33 people dead;
• Mega Millions set a new world record for the highest lottery jackpot of $370 million;
• The Pound Sterling hit a 15-year high versus the U.S. Dollar, breaking through the $2 mark for the first time since 1992.
AND, the mortgage bubble burst taking the economy through a scary meltdown that ushered in the Great Recession – and as things come back around in a “9” year, THIS is a little piece of Bush Republican Administration karma that may be an important (but largely forgotten) energetic aspect that is affecting the Republican Party in 2016.

Okay. Let’s go back to illustrate how “9” years reinforce the fundamental root energies of any entity’s Purpose. Stick with me, because it is necessary to make an important point that comes right at the end.

Just a couple of examples will clarify:

• To find the Year Purpose of being a “Democrat,” a 45/9 energy, you add to it the reduced energy of the year. For 2016, the Year Purpose of “Democrat” is found by adding its Purpose number with the “9” energy of 2016: 45 + 9 = 54. Reduce it by adding 5 + 4 and you again get “9,” reinforcing the original “45/9” energy. See?

• Finding the Year Purpose Energy of being a “Republican,” a “49/13″ energy, it looks like this: 49 + 9 = 58, and 5 + 8 = 13. You start with 49/13 and get 58 as a result – another “13” energy. Importantly, “13” is the energy of endings and beginnings. Perhaps 2016 is bringing an end to what it means to be a Republican and, because of this ending, also a new beginning.

• The Purpose number for the “Democratic Party” is “89/17.” The 2016 Year Purpose of the Democratic Party = 89 + 9 = 98/17 – another “17.” Got it?

Okay. Here’s the kicker, and the real reason I am taking you through this little exercise. The Purpose Number for the “Republican Party” is “91/10.” Calculate the Year Purpose number for 2016 and you get a different result: 91 + 9 = 100; 1 + 0 + 0 = 1.

There are several important insights for this exercise, not the least of which is to note that the labels and names we give to things carry energy and have the power to affect things in the real world. Other insights include the following three things:

1. The energy of “Democrat” (45/9) is in harmony with the “9” year energy of 2016. This would seem to bode well for Democrat candidates in the November elections.

2. The Year Purpose for the Democratic Party is a “98/17,” and this is also the number of “Democratic Socialism.” What is very interesting about this for me is that Bernie Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, is faring so well this year.

3. The 2016 year Purpose for the “Republican Party” is a “1,” and this is the number of genesis and birth. It is the start point, and the energy of the newborn. The Republican Party appears to be crumbling in 2016. Maybe this is a necessary falling apart that precedes a rebirth. While Donald Trump is the clear catalyst for this dissolution, it can also be said that in this “9” year of 2016 the Republican Party is harvesting the fruits of their actions and efforts over the past nine years since 2007.

2016 U.S. Presidential Candidates: A Mystical Numerology Perspective

Election 2016

Overall Patterns

Much has been written in the press about each of the major candidates for the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Don’t worry, this article is different. It provides something you won’t find anywhere else: a Mystical Numerology overview and comparison of the major energies and patterns that the five remaining candidates are carrying (2 Democrats and 3 Republicans). In some respects, it is eye-opening! The differences are quite distinct. I hope you will find it as enlightening as I did.

As a basis for highlighting and discussing the patterns, I started with a chart that summarized the important numbers that come out of a Mystical Numerology analysis of each candidate’s name and birth date (converted to my 13-month calendar). I originally included it in this article but when I published it, the chart didn’t translate into the blog format.

Maybe it is for the best. Even though the chart showed the patterns, there were a lot of numbers. Staring at it might have given you brain freeze. So, I will just walk you through what came from the numbers. I promise that it will be painless, and maybe even exhilarating. Here we go.

11 – The Connector & Change Agent

“11” is considered a Master Number. It is high energy; the number of the Connector and Change Agent. On a mystical level, it is the energy of universal love, Divine Truth and universal understanding. It is the master energy of the Avatar (divine being) and Hierophant (interpreter of sacred mysteries).

The “11”is an important energy in the charts of both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. It is Clinton’s Life Purpose number, the Power Number for both Sanders and Clinton, and the Year Path and Mayan Year energies for Sanders.

Just as important, the “11” energy is something that none of the other Republican candidates have in their charts – except for John Kasich, that is, and it shows up as his current Life Challenge.

On the collective level, “11” is the energy that supports common goals and values, civil liberties and human rights. It gives both Clinton and Sanders the power to shape collective outcomes and empower a critical mass of people necessary to carry forward a mass movement. For Bernie Sanders, this has been about speaking out against income inequality, the polarization of wealth, and the pervasive power of the big banks. In truth, he has pulled Clinton more toward the liberal left.

On a practical level, “11” is the energy of the trailblazer, change agent, reformer and emancipator. It gives the ability to reach out and connect with people, and it bestows creativity and an open mind. “11” is the energy of action, the power of manifestation, and also represents economic prosperity. Both Clinton and Sanders have a strong connection with “the people” – even though Bernie is better in communicating his passion. Yet, with the “11” energy they are carrying, each have the power make promises happen, and to be an engine for future prosperity.

Shadow: Every number has a shadow which holds the darker, not-so-positive energies we don’t like to see. For the “11” these darker aspects include being compulsive and excitable (as Bernie is sometimes), or being seen as playing power games and caught up in materialism (a perception of Hillary). It can make a person inclined to episodes of bad judgment, something that applies in equal measure to both Clinton and Sanders.

Yet, overall, the “11” energy has a stronger positive side than a negative one. It is interesting that only the Democratic candidates have this energy.

6 – The Influencer, Number of The People

“6” is the number of the people, public and society. It is the energy that promotes social cohesion and social ties, and allows people to collaborate as equals with others. Both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have it, so does Ohio Governor John Kasich. Hillary has it as the first letter (H/6) of her name, “Hillary.” Both Hillary and Bernie have it as their “Soul Purpose” number, and Hillary has it for her current Attainment cycle. The “6” is also John Kasich’s Life Purpose number.

The “6,” being the number of the people, is a natural energy for politicians to have. It is curious to me, and a little disturbing, that this “people energy” is completely missing from Donald Trump’s chart, and only shows up as a “Tension” Number for Ted Cruz, a challenging aspect that shows that he finds it difficult to connect and play nicely with others. Is it possible that neither Trump nor Cruz, the two leading Republican candidates, are in this race for the people? One wonders.

The “6” energy also tends to make a person focused, capable, reliable and generally ethical (even though her detractors sometimes question this quality in Clinton). People like Clinton and Sanders really want to ask the right questions and discover the hidden truths. It is part of who they are.

The “6” brings the power to bring change, especially in combination with the “11.” The “6” is the “Awakener,” a role that especially Bernie Sanders is playing in this election.

The “11” and “6” combination shared by both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders is also the energy of the teacher, mentor and healer – talents that both can bring to the presidency, if elected. And, Lord knows, we are going to need a “healer-in-chief” after this divisive and uncivil election!

Shadow: The not-so-positive aspects of the “6” energy can include misunderstanding and mutual distrust. More than any of the other numbers, the “6” knows about polarities, but who better to deal with the political polarization we are experiencing? The shadow energy of the “6” can bring over-sensitivity, insecurity and imbalance; and it can cause individuals to either slip into avoidance strategies, like Hillary Clinton being slow on the uptake on the controversy with her use of personal e-mails, or to overreact with competitiveness and aggressive tendencies, like Bernie Sanders sometimes coming across as an angry old man.

13 – The Builder, Community

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders both have the “13” as their “Legacy Number,” a number that very often has to do with an individual’s work. The Legacy Number is an important number because it defines something significant that will live on as a result of what a person does in the world. The “13” is about the community, the “6” is about the people; both work together well. John Kasich, who has a “6” Purpose, also has the “13” as his Drive number (an important motivation). Ted Cruz has a “13” for his Year Path in 2016, but this only defines a temporary energy – a means to an end, perhaps.

“13” is the energy that can bring a shift in paradigms and a realignment in belief systems. But, it accomplishes this through collaboration, working toward shared goals, and finding joint solutions and middle ground. It is an energy that strengthens the will to connect, and promotes social harmony and world peace. It is about working at the grassroots level, and engaging volunteers, as Bernie Sanders has most notably done to fund his campaign. It is about creating change by building things up rather than tearing them down.

Importantly, the “13” energy is about selfless effort and giving something back. But, it is not weak. It makes a person goal-oriented, independent and bold; it focuses experience on creating practical “real-world” results, and it brings both self-assurance and persistence.

The “13” energy represents the dawn and the dusk. It shows up at important choice points, like this election. “13” is about building up the new, and letting go of the old. Since Clinton, Kasich and Sanders carry this energy in prominent positions of their charts, it suggests that each of them would help the United States step fully into the 21st century.

Shadow: The not-so-positive aspects of the “13” energy include mistakes, blind spots and disorder. It can cause a person to be overly willful, individualistic, antagonistic and even pompous. It is the energy that inclines a person toward fanaticism and hatefulness. It is also the energy of human greed, wrongdoing, and corrupt politicians.

Note: Ted Cruz carries a “19” energy for his Soul Purpose, the energy of the “guru.” This energy, used to be a true teacher, would have many positive aspects. But, the combined shadow of the “19” guru energy and Ted Cruz’s “13” Year Path can easily tip the scales toward fanaticism, something to carefully consider.

8 – The Leader

The “8” is the energy of the “Leader” and of “Power.” America is also an “8” energy, but so is the World. It is the number of purpose, ability and competence, entrepreneurship and achievement, and it has a strong connection with money and good fortune. The “8” is a dynamic and powerfully active energy that bestows willpower and the capacity to be tenacious and “hang in there” when the going gets tough. It can help individuals be pioneering and outspoken, and a defender of the people. It is also the number of teams, collaboration, inter-connectivity and social ties. It is also the energy of the negotiator. These are all wonderful qualities for a presidential candidate. It is no wonder that this “8” energy appears in almost all of the candidate charts.

Hillary Clinton has the “8” as her Life Path. Bernie Sanders has the “8” in spades: it is his Life Purpose and Life Path, and it shows as one of his Life Passion numbers. Donald Trump has the “8” as the energy of his Life Purpose and Life Opportunity, and it also shows up as one of the numbers for his Life Passion. For Ted Cruz, it clearly defines his Life Passion. Curiously, the only candidate missing this number is John Kasich, but maybe this says that his candidacy is motivated by other things. (Note: “8” is the negotiator, “12” is about deals; Donald Trump, who wrote The Art of the Deal (1987), carries both energies.)

There is an old aphorism that says, “The only way you can tell if a politician is lying is if his or her lips are moving.” Well, the “8” is also the number of love, faith and integrity, so maybe there is hope that these candidates have it within themselves to serve their better angels.

Shadow: The “8” energy is also about boundaries. Respecting boundaries can be a good thing, but it can also be taken to extremes. The most notable example of this is Donald Trump, who has crossed every previous boundary of civility, and has made the now infamous assertion that he’s going to build a giant wall (35-feet high or more) between Mexico and the United States – and have Mexico pay for it!

The dark side of the “8” energy can cause turbulence, conflict and upheaval. It can make a person coercive, overbearing and inflexible. It can make someone a formidable enemy who is ruthless, heartless and militant. It can also incline a person toward irresponsibility. Of all the candidates, Trump is the one who seems to exemplify the dark side of the “8” energy. But, remember. “America” is also an “8” energy. These not-so-positive qualities lie in our collective shadow which is why Trump can act as a catalyst to bring to the surface all the things we didn’t want to look at. If we are able to deal with them in a good way, maybe we will end up thanking Donald Trump for his service. But, please! Let’s not elect him to the highest office in the land!

12 – The Achiever

“12” is the powerful energy of the Initiator, Inspirer and Achiever. It is the number of new directions and new possibilities. It is linked with the Global Mind and is a channel or gateway for the creative forces of the universe. Indeed, those who carry this energy can be a catalyst for mass awakening.

With the candidates, it shows up as Bernie Sanders’ Drive Number, and Ted Cruz has it for his Opportunity Number. But, holy guacamole! Donald Trump has the “12” energy as his Soul Purpose, his Power and Passion Numbers, and it shows up in his Mayan Year energy for 2016. This all makes perfect sense, as you will see.

The “12” is the number of big dreams, innovation, changes and adaptability. It is not only the achiever energy, but also that of crusaders for causes (like Bernie Sanders taking on Wall Street power brokers and big banks). It is the number of risk takers, and also of business, making deals, business acquisitions and salesmanship. It can make a person self-assured, uninhibited and fearless, mostly positive qualities unless taken to the extremes that we are seeing with Donald Trump.

Shadow: But, extremism is one of the shadow qualities of the “12”. It is rebellious, and is the energy of explosions, earthquakes and violence. Other not-so-positive aspects include self-importance and self-righteousness. It can be a ruthless and manipulative, and can activate an egocentric need for control and the desire for conquest. Which presidential candidate does this most sound like? Donald Trump, of course. For whatever reason, he seems to be carrying the darker, shadow energies of the “12” but also the “8,” as previously described.

Ted Cruz, also seems to be carrying some of the shadow of the “12” – the egocentricity and self-righteousness, a need for control, and a transparently manipulative energy that comes through like the son of a preacher and Tea Party crusader who wants to be the preacher-in-chief instead of president of all the people. The shadow of the “12” can also make a person hypercritical and full of resentment. It may just be me, but it seems like Cruz also has a touch of these qualities.

7 – The Idealist & Authority

This is another number that is prominent in the charts of the candidates. It shows up as the Opportunity number and current Attainment cycle for Bernie Sanders. It is the Legacy Number and Year Path number for Donald Trump. It is the Power Number for Ted Cruz. It is the energy of the first letter of John Kasich’s first name (like a personality number), and shows up as his Mayan Year and Opportunity numbers. So, how is this important?

The positive aspects of the “7” include being the idealist. Indeed, it is the number of truth and conscience. It is the number of oneness, dreaming, and vision, and is the energy of “the messenger.” It can be team oriented, act for the social good, and help to promote environmentalism (as Bernie Sanders is doing).

The “7” is a strongly mental energy. It has a very practical side that provides personal determination and drive, business savvy and generally good judgment. It is achievement-oriented and wants to both initiate and promote new ideas. Those who carry this energy are often linear and logical in their thought process, and like to be in control. “7” is the number of “authority” – an important word to highlight since this campaign seems to have an authoritarian bent to it. This is especially true for the energetic combination of “7” (authority) and “9” (authoritarian) which Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have. Surprise, surprise.

Shadow: Although the positive side of the “7” energy can bestow tolerance, people who carry the “7” energy are mentally quick and often get irritated with people who don’t “get” things as fast as they do. They can be irritable, short-tempered and unreasonable.

The “7” is the number of aggressive power and limitless desire. People who are caught in the shadow energy can be bigoted, directive, divisive, uncaring and even cruel. I must say that Donald Trump exhibits some, if not all, of these negative qualities. The shadow side of the “7” can also look like being preachy and fussy, and cause one to be a loner – and this sounds a lot like Ted Cruz. He is not well liked by his peers in the Senate. In fact, Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, another southern Republican, recently remarked “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.” That’s pretty revealing, especially coming from a member of your own political party. It’s an confirmation that Cruz doesn’t play well with others.

I don’t want to bore you with psychobabble, but it is worth noting that many of the dark aspects described above probably grow out of, and are a compensation for the following three fundamental issues that lie in the shadow of the “7”: feeling inadequate, inferior and unworthy. The behaviors of both Cruz and, most notably, Trump may be covers for these issues. If it were not so, why would Trump be so upset and defensive over comments about his small hands?

9 – Decision-Maker

This is the number of the executive, decision-maker and being in control. It is the number of fortune and wealth-consciousness. It is the foundation builder. People who carry it are often seen as successful in business and become respected pillars of the community.

It is no wonder that the two candidates who carry this energy most strongly are Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Trump has the “9” as his Life Path number and for his current Attainment and Task Cycles (making this energy an important focus). Cruz has the “9” as his Life Purpose and Legacy numbers. Clinton and Kasich have a bit of this energy, but in a less powerful part of their chart. For Sanders, the “9” is actually his Tension number, and this is partly the reason he can rail against the corporate machine.

Now, there is a softer aspect to the “9” that is quite feminine. It is the number of Mother Earth, the web-of-life and the drive for wholeness. It instills a need to connect with others. It is the energy of the heart, diplomacy, compassion, and gratitude. In its positive aspect, it is the energy of the caretaker, and it supports community values, human decency, shared vision and social cooperation.

It is also the number of the Law, so it is interesting that Ted Cruz attended Harvard Law School and worked as a law clerk for several judges, including Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist (1996 – 1997) before entering politics.

Shadow: The positive side of the “9” brings compassion and fulfillment, but the shadow side can be quite dark. It can spawn a domineering, driven personality that is full of hubris. It is the energy of the narcissist, deceiver and manipulator. It makes a person untrustworthy and prone to promote divisiveness, an “us-versus-them” approach to life, and a need for drama. Both Cruz and Trump carry some of the positive qualities of the “9” and a lot of the dark side. And remember, the “7” – “9” combination paves the way for an authoritarian personality.

As is true for the “7”, the shadow qualities of the “9” may result from more fundamental aspects its shadow energy: inner fear, personal inadequacy and, perhaps, abandonment issues and feeling disempowered in earlier life.

First Vowel

I will save most of the in-depth analysis of the individual candidates for a second article. But, before concluding, I wanted to briefly talk about the important influence of the “First Vowel” because it points up important differences between them.

The first vowel in a name is important because it is like a lens through which a person sees and processes life.

Hillary Clinton: The first vowel in Hillary is the “I,” the energy of the physical world. People with the “I” as first vowel tend to process things on a physical level first, and are inclined to put ideas into action to create something practical. If you look closely, you can see that this is how Hillary Clinton expresses herself. She translates ideas into practical action. She sometimes struggles to connect with people’s passion in the way that Bernie Sanders can do. But, part of what makes her tick is accomplishing results in the practical world. This is her measuring stick. She probably wonders why others don’t see it.

Bernie Sanders: The “E” as a first vowel helps Bernie to be expressive and connect with people on a feeling level. Where Hillary Clinton’s measuring stick is primarily practical results, Bernie’s measuring stick is more one of feelings and relationships. He is much more naturally able to connect with others at an emotional level, and fire the passions necessary to ignite a political revolution. A political revolution fits with Bernie Sanders’ emotional energy, but is something that is probably seen as impractical by Hillary Clinton. She would be much more comfortable with making change one step at a time.

Donald Trump and John Kasich: Both Trump and Kasich have “O” as the first vowel of their names. “O” is intuitive and inner-directed. It is the energy of inner guidance. It sparks a desire to know how things work at fundamental levels. As a first vowel, it prompts both Trump and Kasich to follow their own counsel, In fact, when asked who his counselors are, Donald Trump is famous for saying, “Mostly myself.”

Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz: Even though he goes by “Ted” Cruz, his birth name is “Rafael,” and the mental “A” first vowel fits his temperament much better than the expressive and emotional “E.” The “A” bestows a quick mind, and means that Cruz will think about things before taking action. Cruz will be much less comfortable doing something spontaneous and unscripted than either Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump.

“A” is also about purity. So with the “A” as the first vowel, Cruz has a tendency to be a purist who looks at life in stark contrasts of right and wrong, good and bad, black and white – like a preacher who wants to impose his morals on everyone else. The mental quickness of the “A” as first vowel bestows the positive ability of discrimination, something that can be very helpful in sizing up people and situations. Yet, it can also result in a tendency to be judgmental of others, something that seems to fit Senator Cruz as a Tea Party crusader in this 2016 election.

Conclusion

I am hoping that this analysis has given you added insight into the candidates for the 2016 U.S. presidential election. I was actually surprised at the clear differences between the Democratic and Republican candidates. I hope it has been at least a little eye-opening for you, as well. You are certainly welcome to leave comments.

In a later article, I will take each candidate and write an individual analysis of the strengths and weaknesses that come out of their Mystical Numerology charts.

Energies for 2016

Sunrise Heart

Overview of the Major Energies for 2016

“You must be the change you want to see in the world”
~Mahatma Gandhi~

Introductory Note

When looking at 2016 from a Mystical Numerology perspective, there are three primary energies that are factors to consider. First, 2016 is a “9” Universal Year (2+0+1+6 = 9). Second, this is “Year 4” of the new long cycle on the New Mayan Calendar. And finally, it carries the “16” energy because it is year 16 of the new century. What follows is a detailed description of each of these energies and how they are likely to affect us throughout the year.

Executive Summary

The combination of energies for 2016 make it certain to be a year of fundamental change. There is good news for those of you who are awake or are waking up, and have been working on yourselves for quite a while to clear away what limits and holds you back. All that work is about to pay off. Here’s the really good news. All of the energies for 2016 support the ascension process that humanity is going through. Think of it like this. Spaceship Earth is experiencing an acceleration of consciousness, and 2016 is like an 800-pound gorilla with its foot on the accelerator. That means there is a real possibility that this is the year that a critical mass of awakened souls make it possible for a global mind shift to a higher level of awareness to occur. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

One other thing. Whatever dream or vision or aspiration you have, this is the very best year to get into action to manifest it and make it a physical reality. All the energies will support you, so don’t hold back. Pull out all the stops, let go of your limitations, and go for it!

“9” Universal Year

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters
to create many ripples.”
~Mother Teresa~

Mystical: “9” is the energy of light, and it works with our vibrational body to bring an acceleration of consciousness. For those who are ready, it brings a waking up, a recognition of your Divine Nature, and an ascension to a higher level of awareness. Taking this critical step upward to a higher, more expansive, multidimensional consciousness is the great potential for 2016. For those who are able to take that step, it brings a state of grace and unconditional acceptance of what the Spirit of Life brings.

On both individual and collective levels, the “9” energy of 2016 can also make us more aware of extra-dimensional energies and advanced beings who are waiting patiently to communicate with us on overt, conscious levels. Perhaps this is the year that governments will finally reveal the open secret of extraterrestrial life. Time will tell.

Intuition, ESP, automatic writing, and psychic abilities are all favored this year.

Practical: “9” is the energy of the heart. It is a feminine energy that represents the Earth which is Great Mother and the web-of-life for which she is a caretaker. It is a grounded energy that brings a drive for wholeness and a connection to the physical world. It helps us to better appreciate the wonders of the Earth Mother, and open ourselves up to receive her bounty. For this reason, “9” years generally bring prosperity and good fortune on both individual and collective levels.

This is a year that encourages you to believe in your dreams and visions, and helps to make them become concrete, practical realities. Indeed, the power of destiny is working from behind the scenes to pull you forward this year. This year’s “9” vibration reinforces the energies of your Life Path and Purpose, and gives you a physical boost to become what you are truly meant to be. This is a year of fecundity, a lovely word that means fruitfulness, fertility, and the ability to produce healthy growth. 2016 is about building a new foundation for the future. So, pay attention to what you are building!

Gratitude for blessings already received and for those that are on the way is a key quality to cultivate this year. Gratitude activates the cycle of giving and receiving that keeps prosperity flowing through your life. So, consider keeping a gratitude list of the people, things and events this year that light your path or warm your heart. It will shift your attitude to one of optimism and positive thinking, and will help you maintain a mindset of wealth consciousness. Keeping a gratitude list will pay you very practical dividends for your effort.

This year, knowledge, intelligence and hard work brings the fulfillment of goals and desires, and the possibility for greater abundance and good fortune. The overall energy of 2016 gives you the physical vitality and focus necessary to finish what you start, and to bring projects to fruition. If you have had a run of bad luck, this is a year when your luck can change to good luck. It brings rewards for your efforts over the past nine years. Here is an important tip: the “9” energy favors the generous heart, so a sure way to make the turn-around this year is to offer someone a helping hand – especially someone less fortunate than yourself.

A “9” year also favors: caretakers, community, craftsmen, meaningful work, composers and musicians, diplomats, compassionate managers, decision-makers, executives and CEOs, power brokers, surgeons and cardiac specialists, veterinary medicine, economists, freelancers, journalists, cinematographers and movie stars, paradigm busters and liberators, psychologists, couples therapists, and career counselors, software engineers, conservationists, philanthropists, research scientists, web marketers and advertising executives.

Collective Aspects: 2016 is a year that favors group learning and shared vision. Issues of social cooperation and social expectations are in the spotlight this year, as are a focus on community values, moral principles, human decency, and the idea of universal brotherhood and our connection to each other. As Jeanne White Eagle says, “The time of separation is over.” These ideas and principles will shape our national self-image and social identity in 2016, affect the social debate, and powerfully affect what we do about domestic security.

Indeed, the positive aspects of the “9” energy this year makes bullying, hate-mongering and divisiveness less acceptable than in 2015. This will be a factor in the U.S. presidential race as these issues take center stage.

Science & Technology: It is a good year for technological progress. It is likely to be a year of rapid innovation in a variety of fields including: artificial intelligence, virtual reality, biocommunication, superconductivity, medical science, environmental science, space travel, and even way-out things like quantum teleportation.

Think data: big data, smart data, mobile, accessible data in the cloud.

It is a great year for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.

Crowdsourcing for funding will become even more important (think indiegogo.com, kickstarter.com, gofundme.com, and so on).

Improved battery storage is in keeping with this year’s “9” energy, as are things like 3D printing, smart technology and the “Internet of things” – meaning all sorts of things now have embedded technology that allow them to communicate and interact with the external environment. Examples include: cars, TVs, security systems, smart wearables like watches, Google glasses, and so on, thermostats, electronic appliances, lights in household and commercial environments, alarm clocks, speaker systems, vending machines, etc. Of course, as wonderful as this is, it also puts cyber-security in the spotlight.

Law: The law takes center stage during a “9” year, so expect some landmark decisions this year that will have far-reaching, long-term impact. In fact, legal decisions at all levels will have a great deal to do with either quelling or inflaming social anxiety. An early example of this was the legal decision to execute 47 people in 12 different cities in Egypt, including an influential Shiite cleric. This action inflamed sectarian outrage among Shiite populations across the Middle East, and resulted in Saudi Arabia severing diplomatic relations with Iran.

The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and the emerging battle over whether the Senate will have confirmation hearings on President Obama’s nominee is also in keeping with this year’s focus on the law.

Race relations is one of the issues highlighted in a “9” year, so it is no surprise that the U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering a case about whether race can be used in college admissions decisions. Another example is the decision on whether or not to indict police officers for the shooting deaths of black people in several instances around the U.S. The outcome in each of these cases will either ease the social anxiety around race relations and issues of justice or, alternately, inflame widespread anger.

Catalyst for Change: It is important to realize that this year brings the potential for a monumental shift. Hopefully this will be because a critical mass of people move to a higher level of consciousness and awareness. But, the catalyst for the shift could also be because of an ecological disaster or environmental catastrophe of some kind. An unexpected shift in the earth’s crust is a remote possibility.

Politics: This applies primarily to U.S. politics because 2016 is a presidential election year. That said, it can also have broader implications to other countries.

This will likely be a good year for the economy, as “9” years most generally are, despite the weakening in China’s economy, economic turmoil in Brazil, oil dipping below $30/barrel, and the decline in stock markets around the world that have ushered in 2016. The period of December 20 – January 16 is a “10” energy, and this brings an underlying shift in the fundamentals. Something is coming to completion; something new is being born. 2016 is a year of building new foundations, and sometimes old ones have to be torn down first. This is a messy, and often unpleasant process. I expect that the economy will be in transition through the first quarter. However, based on the energies of the months, the economy should begin to stabilize by late March and start to strengthen again in April. Of course, time will tell.

An example of the uplifting economic effect of a “9” year is 1998, (1+9+9+8 = 27/9), when the U.S. economy produced a $70-billion surplus. Of course, a healthy economy tends to favor the political party that is in power. And, as they say, a rising tide lifts all boats. Perhaps this will be an important year for greater income equity. The middle class, factory workers, and low-paid laborers might begin to recoup some of their lost earning power. At the very least, this will be a major issue in the election campaigns.

“9” is a feminine energy, so it also bodes well for women this year. Democrat is also a “9” energy. In 2007, another “9” year, Nancy Pelosi was elected Speaker of the House, and Democrats won both the House and Senate. So, the “9” energy gives Hillary Clinton a boost — and maybe also Senator Elizabeth Warren.

On the other hand, “9” is an energy that also supports revolutionaries and outsiders, so Bernie Sanders has a real shot at winning the nomination. And, if he wins the nomination, it gives him a shot to win the general election. But, it also means that the non-establishment Republican outsiders such as Donald Trump and Ted Cruz will continue to give the Republican Party a migraine headache for months to come. I would hope that the positive aspects of the “9” energy, which support inclusiveness and connection, diplomacy, compassion, and taking care of one another, will make it much more difficult for the divisive, fear and hate-mongering, bullying tactics of these candidates to take root. But, we’ll have to see. All energies also have a shadow side, as described below.

After the March 15 primaries, when the probable nominees for both the Democrats and Republicans become more clear, I will do a Mystical Numerology analysis of the major candidates in both parties and post the artical on my website.

Shadow: The shadow aspects for 2016 include facing personal inadequacies and maybe even your worst fear. If you end up facing some kind of personal travail or have chronic problems that linger on and on, or you are enmeshed or entangled in a set of dramas from which it is difficult to escape, you will know that you are caught in the shadow energy for the year.

Another shadow aspect of this year is that asleep people, God bless them, will likely choose to remain asleep. This is because “waking up” forces one to work with the personal unconscious to confront inner fears and repair inner damage. This takes commitment and hard work. It doesn’t generally happen all at once. It is easier to hang onto the status quo out of a fear of moving forward, and continue the cycle of self-deception. The people who wake up fully this year are those who have been turning up the dimmer switch for some time.

The positive energy of a “9” year sparks a drive for wholeness and a need for connection. But, in the shadow are the opposite qualities, including: divisiveness, domineering and adversarial actions, narcissistic behaviors like needing to be the center of attention, and an “us-versus-them” attitude. The shadow energy is a perfect year for extremists, manipulators, opportunists, instigators and people who bully and antagonize others.

As I write this, I realize clearly that Donald Trump is an embodiment of many of these qualities. He is a personification of the shadow energies for 2016, and is appealing to the fears, nostalgia for times long past (“Let’s make America great again”), and playing to the basest of human instincts and fears. Let us hope that love trumps fear (pun intended) in 2016.

Year 4 of the New Sun Cycle

“If you try hard enough, you can bend the spoon; you can shift reality.”
~Christopher Meloni~

The Mayan Calendar long cycle of 25,920 years ended on 21-December-2012 when the earth completed a full orbital rotation around the central sun of our galaxy, having traveled through all 12 signs of the zodiac to come full-circle back to the starting point. That marked a cosmic alignment that was the end of one great sun cycle and the beginning of another. This new cycle gives us the collective opportunity to make a major shift forward in human consciousness.

We are now 4 years into the new cycle. The energy of the “4,” is connected to the lightbody, and has a connection to parallel dimensions and nonhuman intelligence. Similar to the “9,” it is also about the ascension process. It helps us individually and collectively to ascend to a higher level of multidimensional consciousness and connectedness to the universal energy field. As a human race, we’ve been working for some time to build a critical mass of people ready to make the shift into this next stage of human potential that is akin to making the jump to lightspeed. Maybe 2016 is the year that taking this step upward becomes a real possibility.

Mystical: The “4” energy has a very practical side, but also a powerfully mystical side. It is the energy of pure consciousness, expanded awareness, and a connection to universal wisdom and the akashic records. As it becomes fully embodied, it can bring a sense of transcendent freedom. The caveat is that moving into this expansive state generally takes a commitment to a spiritual practice.

Practical: The “4” energy is strongly mental. It is the energy of order, reason, analysis and work. It helps you to put things into order, make decisions, solve problems and manage change. The “4” vibration supports capability and can be very productive. It supports creative intelligence, and helps you to make even your wildest dreams within reach. With the “4” and “9” combination of energies, this is the perfect year to manifest your dreams and desires. There will be none better for many years. So this, my friends, is the year to go for it. No halfway measures. Put away all of your doubts and fears, and just go for it – all or nothing!

Collective: In a “4” year, issues of justice and liberty take center stage. Whatever is considered to be “conventional” is in the spotlight and under the microscope: conventional leaders, conventional limits, and conventional views – including religious traditions. All of these are up for consideration and review this year, not that this process hasn’t already started. But this year, it will be like separating the wheat from the chaff, keeping what is good and letting the rest go. Still, this is not an easy process. It is messy, highlights issues of social trust, challenges social structures, and creates unrest and instability.

What we are going through as a global society is akin to the body going through a purification process. Toxins are being brought to the surface to be released. Longer term, this is a good thing, but it is not always a lot of fun while you are going through it – at least not on a collective level. What I mean by this is that we can enjoy our own process and have fun on individual levels. At the same time, it is difficult and sometimes painful to see the detoxification process unfold on a collective level.

Shadow: We can get stuck this year, frozen in our positions and become cynical and unwilling to change. We can feel lost, isolated, and unsure of ourselves and others. Indeed, we can feel a little bit or a lot like we are in freefall with nothing solid to hang onto. Sometimes, this can be because we are unable or unwilling to give up our limited viewpoints to see a larger potential. Maybe we fear that our boundaries will be shattered and we’ll never be able to put the pieces together again. So we resist change. You can see a lot of this happening collectively in society and on social media.

We can also hide behind moral righteousness and misjudge the motives of others. We can feel fearful or unloved, or jealous and betrayed. We can lock down into the stuckness of a frozen self-image or national image, and defend ourselves through aggressiveness and feeling “better than” whatever person or group is challenging our belief system.

The cure is to face the fear of change because, especially in 2016, there is the potential for a monumental shift. In this period of accelerated change, and shift in consciousness, you will be better served by opening up your heart in radical surrender, and allowing your destiny to pull you forward. When the ship leaves the spaceport to make the jump to light-speed, trust me. It’s best to be on board. You don’t want to be left behind, empty-handed with your ruby lips flapping in the breeze.

“16” Year Energy

“Sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, an opening of the mind, an
intentional pause and reset, to start to see new options and new possibilities.”
~Kirstin Armstrong~

Finally, because 2016 is year 16 of the new century, it also carries a “16” energy.

Mystical: The “16” energy is a direct link with the collective mind and ancestral wisdom. It is a powerful time to connect with spirit guides, open up to spiritual guidance and inner knowing. You may experience times of direct knowing – i.e. information being downloaded directly into your mind and you just know something without knowing how you know it! It is also a time during which you can trust your instinctive actions.

Communication with higher beings and access to dimensional gateways is easier and more possible this year.

Practical: The combined energies of the “9” Universal year, together with the “4” and “16” year energies, make it certain that 2016 is a year of new possibilities, new frontiers and fundamental change. This can be exciting but not always easy. Surfing the rapids of this kind of monumental change requires great flexibility and balance.

The “16” energy gives access to great power. This year, you can get in touch with the forces of nature, connect more readily with your “inner genius,” put new ideas into action, launch a successful project, and so on. “16” is grounded intelligence that is linked to the physical world, so this year brings greater ability to achieve practical results, even with major projects – and especially with the “4” and “9” energies also active for 2016. Natural aptitudes are strengthened. Adhering to a hard-working discipline during a “16” year is in harmony with the time and readily produces individual gains.

It is a special time to cure serious illnesses, prevent accidents from occurring, and to ask for safe travels.

Collective: The social well-being is in the spotlight, and as the year progresses it will be more apparent how interdependent we all are on one another. There is a high degree of inequity aversion during a “16” period. In other words, 2016 is a good time to take action to stop unfairness to other individuals or groups. Good intentions outweigh bad ones, but intentions are not enough. You must make your good intentions into good actions this year.

Shadow: Life can put you in a crucible this year and turn up the heat. A meltdown can occur on individual and collective levels, and this can be a good thing in the longer term. Generally, as with the “4,” you can experience a sense of limitedness that causes you to feel like your energy is constricted and you are caught in a stranglehold. Life’s persistent questions may seem unanswerable. You can get frustrated, pull back from life and become introverted. Resist the urge to disengage. There are always answers to be found. The challenge is to begin to see the glass being half-full instead of half-empty. Keeping a gratitude list will help you shift into optimism and positive thinking.

Something fundamental is shifting this year. You are changing in deep, but often unseen ways. The key to balance is to be kind and gentle with yourself and others. Take some time for introspection. Know that any trial you experience is temporary, and a lesson meant to bring new growth and new capacities. You are getting stronger – even if you cannot see it now.

Month 13: November 22 – December 19

Path to New Beginning

Mystical Numerology uses a 13-month calendar that begins on December 20 each year. The resulting 13 months are almost uniformly 28-day months. On this calendar, Month 12 begins Sunday, October 25 and will last through Saturday, November 21.

The energy of this 28-day period is about: Choice Points, Realignments, Endings & Beginnings … Life, Expectations, Taking Practical Action, Building for the Future … Ancestors, Guardian Angels … Revelations & Sudden Awakening … Beingness & the Now Moment

This month favors: The Need to Agree, Joint Solutions & Middle Ground, Shared Goals and community … Catalysts for Change, Advisers, Expertise, Networkers … Grassroots Efforts, Volunteers & Giving Something Back.

Watch out for: Disorder, Aimlessness … Blind Spots & Mistakes … Wrongdoing & Corruption … Fanaticism, Hatefulness & Trauma.

Practical: This is a time of endings and beginnings. Like last month, it is a good time for change. And yet, the energy of this month makes change more volitional and less potentially explosive. It is about coming to a choice point. A personal change is necessary and inner work is generally needed to make a fundamental realignment.
The focus of this time is on breaking free from an old habit or routine, cleaning up anything that is out of balance, and finding personal renewal in the process. Moving forward involves leaving something of the past behind so you can step more fully into your power. There is a strong connection with ancestral spirits and guardian angels during this 28-day period. Don’t hesitate to ask for help!
The “13” energy is about getting into action to do something practical. You may feel the urge to use your energy, talent and experience to build something, to procreate, to bring forth something into the world. What this looks like will depend entirely upon you, but the point is that this period is a great time to move things forward.

Moving forward this month requires well-defined goals together with readiness, practical action, persistence, and an expectation of success. This combination brings accomplishment and produces prosperity. Try it out. Be bold and do whatever you do with self-assurance. The nice thing is that this month brings the energy of success and wealth. Whatever you do at this time may bring you added abundance!

This is a fortuitous time to find middle ground that leads to joint solutions and social harmony. This time favors facilitators, catalysts for change, networking, volunteers, and grassroots efforts.
An important aspect of this month’s energy is giving something of your energy (including money), time and talent back to the people in return for the blessings you have received. Doing so at this time, puts you in harmony with the energy of this period and satisfies a deep need to connect. It also helps to keep the fabric of society healthy, and brings many personal rewards – for it is in giving that we truly receive.

The Shadow Energy: This month can bring a feeling that you are aimless and do not have a clue about what direction to take. You can feel that your efforts are meaningless and likely to fail. Both of these are signs of being caught in the shadow energy of this month. This darker side can create disorder, blind spots, and mistakes (at least perceived ones). You can feel miserable, moody, pessimistic and not at all sociable. In fact, you can withdraw and feel quite insular. Add in a touch of scarcity – or the fear of it – that can happen during this period to spice up your life, and you’ve got the recipe for codependency, evasive behaviors, selfishness and even xenophobia (like turning away Syrian refugees). All of these are shadow energies for this 28-day period.

There is always a more active side, as well. These active shadow qualities include being over-dramatic, individualistic and willful, negative and ill-mannered. The negative side of the “13” period can also produce antagonistic, disobedient, confrontational, unjust or even treacherous behaviors. It is the energy of hatefulness, wrongdoing, human greed and fanaticism. Charlatans and corrupt people can cross your path. As a counterbalance, this is a good time to file lawsuits to seek justice!

Collectively, this is a time of sudden awakening that supports human morality, civil courage and the overthrow of tyrants and unjust systems. Yet, this never happens easily. As a result, the “13” period can be a time when social dilemmas take center stage. This can cause cultural upheaval, meltdowns and even revolutions.

All of the shadow aspects for the “13” have a common root: something is winding down and ending. The sun is setting on an old habit, routine, mindset, worldview or system. The sun is rising on something new. It is a new energy that is calling out for a shift or realignment or (re)awakening. The path back to the positive side is to stop holding on to the past so tightly and learn to let go more lightly. Wake up to the new possibilities and potentials.

“21” Universal Month

The “Universal Month” shows us another aspect of the energy for the month. It is calculated by adding the “13” month to the reduced year for 2015: 13 + 2+0+1+5 = 12 + 8 = 21.

During this month, you are more open to inner guidance and higher insights. You may, therefore, be more open than normal during this time. This means that you will also be affected by both inner and outer events more than is normal. This makes it a good time for personal renewal. As a part of this, it is a great time to review old structures and patterns in your life to see what fits and what doesn’t. It’s a period to integrate inner polarities and strive for wholeness.

This can also be a time of expansion and sometimes sudden changes. The “21” period puts you in touch with your soul’s purpose, and presents you with an opportunity to make a course correction. This month is a time to ratchet up your courage and make that leap of faith that will bring your inner and outer life into balance.
This period is also connected with money, and your ability to attract more of it. Here is the key. To have more money you must first let go of any fear of lack that you have – e.g., focusing on what you don’t have, including being afraid you don’t have enough. It is helpful to release an attachment to money in any kind of needy way because this simply reinforces the same fear. Next, realize that money is linked to the energy of play in the sense of letting go of worry, adopting a childlike innocence, and losing yourself in the moment. If you can find a sense of play in your vocation, then you’ve got a leg up on creating more money. The openness to play also opens the gateway to inner guidance. Childlike innocence allows you to follow the guidance. When you do, you make yourself magnetic to the money needed for you to achieve your soul’s purpose.

Following inner guidance means showing up and saying “yes” to that voice inside of you, or to the gut-level sense of knowing that you are supposed to do something – even when you don’t really want to do it. This also takes some courage and a little bit of audacity. This month’s energy, while expansive, is not for the faint of heart.
This is a good time to seek an accord with others. It is a good time to educate yourself and others, and create understanding for your position, beliefs or worldview. It is a time to inspire trust and confidence in others. The energy of this month helps people make good choices and cut through extraneous information to focus on the most important goals.

This can be a time that brings a sense of calm. It is a good time to beautify your house and your surroundings. It is a time to feel good about what you have accomplished, have a little fun and enjoy the good life. In doing so, you will also help others to do so.

Shadow: You will know if you are in the shadow energy of this period if you feel like you are blocked and unable to accomplish your goals, or that you are seriously constrained and have no choices available to you. Life can feel dull and lacking in freshness and originality.

Alternately, this can be a very exciting time but not in a good way. You may be confronted by those you consider enemies. People may speak or act with malice, be mean to you, or even gang up on you. You can feel under siege. The natural reaction is to be afraid. It may take great courage to stand your ground and defend your ideas and beliefs, or even your physical person.

Deceit and fraud are both “21” energies, so guard against those who would take advantage of you at this time. Be on the lookout for bogus deals, or ploys to take your money, or people who attempt to coax you into doing something you don’t feel good about. This can be a challenge since the energy of this time can make you feel a little shy, baffled or even flakey. Stay focused, if you can!

Month 12: October 25 — November 21

Hands Touching

Mystical Numerology uses a 13-month calendar that begins on December 20 each year. The resulting 13 months are almost uniformly 28-day months. On this calendar, Month 12 begins Sunday, October 25 and will last through Saturday, November 21.

The energy of this 28-day period is about: Visionaries, Risk-Takers & Big Dreams … Idea-Driven, Innovations & Invention … New Directions, Changes and Adaptability … Initiators, Inspirers, Salesmanship … Achievers, Crusaders, Drivers … Coordination & Strategy … Business, Acquisitions, Plenty … Service, Honesty & Fair Play … Playfulness.

This month favors: adventurers, crusaders, firemen, pathfinders … arbitrators, civil libertarians, peacekeepers … pastors and priests … designers, filmmakers, songwriters, storytellers, writers … engineers and physicists … dentists, Jungian analysts, pharmacists, therapists, yoga instructors … contractors, promoters, salesmen …  attorneys, Wall Street lawyers.

Watch out for: computer hackers, drug dealers, gamblers, rapists, shysters, workaholics.

The “12” Month

Practical: This 28-day period can be an exciting time of innovation, change and new directions. Its energy awakens intuition and brings increased vitality. During this time, you may feel really alive and in touch with the deeper meaning of life as well as your own purpose for being here. It can be a very productive period for moving forward to achieve your goals.

Use the energy of this time to make changes, find a new path, choose a new direction, make needed realignments, or learn something new. Things are malleable. It is a time for innovation and boldness.

Your intuition is more active at this time, so don’t be afraid to act on faith and take fearless yet purposeful risks based on your inner guidance. The secret to success throughout this month is to keep showing up, and keep saying “yes” to Spirit. This, in itself, will set you apart from the crowd and move you closer to making your dreams a reality.

This 28-day period combines the energies of intuition and objectivity. Inspiration fuels idea-driven practicality and a desire to achieve practical goals. Anchor your inner insights and visions with systematic investigation. Then move forward. This is an ideal time to initiate new projects and endeavors, and for creating forward momentum. It is a good time for planning strategies, coordinating with others, and making acquisitions or additions. It can be a wonderful time of prosperity and plenty.

The “12” month favors honesty, fair play and service to others. But, it is a changeable time, and there can be many ups and downs. This can be stressful if you aren’t able to ride the wave of energy. Maintaining your balance requires staying adaptable. Don’t get so focused on being a crusader for your own causes and objectives that you trample on others in the process. Rather, seek to be the arbitrator and harmonizer whenever possible. When tensions are high, a talent for peacemaking is needed.

It is important to pay attention to your physical body during this period. It is a good time for physical healing, especially since your body is likely to be feeling the higher vibration, and making shifts.

In the right setting and circumstance, this can be a wonderful time for playfulness, carefreeness and uninhibited actions, especially those that support your overall health and well-being. It can also be quite a romantic time for finding or deepening love relationships. And, your sexual drive may be high.

During a “12” month, women and women’s issues are in the spotlight.

“12” is the number of the global mind. So, on a collective level, it can be a period of mass awakening. The energy fosters connectivity, group coherence, and shared meaning. “12” is the number of the social network and the energy of the larger whole. Issues of social justice take the spotlight as the rationale for the prevailing worldview is questioned. The result can be world-changing.

The Shadow Energy: The “12” month can be an exciting time of change. But, remember the oft-quoted Chinese curse: May you live in exciting times. This can be a time of trial when your personal beliefs are tested. As already noted, adaptability is a virtue during this period and will help you maintain your balance.

Energies and events can shift rapidly at this time. Things may seem to be out of control, and you may want to hang onto the status quo because it is a known entity. The energy of this time can spark within you (or others) a need for control. It can cause you to fixate on goals, and put undue effort into your work. You can become a workaholic. You can get emotionally stuck, and take too narrow a view of your circumstances. It can be a time of self-doubt, when you feel inept. You may be tempted to see things as hopeless and adopt an attitude of defeatism.

“12” is the number of earthquakes, explosions, implosions and shockwaves. During a “12” month, the creative forces inside and outside of us are very active. It can be a rebellious time of pushing boundaries and buttons. It can be a time of emotional alienation, of highs and lows and bi-polar thinking. It can be a time when ignorant and vindictive people cross your path and test your beliefs. Tyrants can take center stage to test the human spirit and urge us toward social justice and solidarity with spiritual law.

It is important to remember that this month offers us new directions, and the opportunity to make fundamental changes. Just when things seem to be falling apart, a chance for a new innovation presents itself. There is an opportunity to burst the cocoon and become a butterfly. Your intuition is strong during this period. The path to balance is to listen to your inner guidance, keep showing up, and keep saying yes to your better angels.

The “20” Universal Month

The “Universal Month” shows us another aspect of the energy for the month. It is calculated by adding the “12” month to the reduced year for 2015: 12 + 2+0+1+5 = 12 + 8 = 20.

Practical: During this 28-day period, you may find obstacles and doubts get cleared away to create greater balance. Some of these obstacles may be “inner stuff” that surfaces to be processed and released. So, it may not be all fun and games. Yet, larger forces are with you, and you will feel it. Ask for divine intervention to help confront any kind of issue or solve any type of problem. … If you are dealing with any kind of legal issues, this is the best time to take action and ask that justice be done.

This is a month of greater power, almost as if an unseen hand is guiding your actions. You may become more centered in the realization of whom you are and where your true power comes from. Your body may feel stronger, and you may feel more drawn to the spiritual dimension of life. Pay attention to your dreams, as well as the synchronicities that happen to give you practical inspiration during this period.

This is a good time to pursue a regular course of exercise or a fitness regimen of some kind.  Keeping your body fit will also help you bring in the spiritual energy you may require to meet life head-on. This period is the time of the hero’s journey or quest, something that you must experience alone even if you have the support of friends and family. Conjure up the 20 seconds of audacity and courage that it takes to take the leap of faith – even if it scares you! Significant growth lies at the end of the journey.

Actually, this can also be a time to trot out your inner child and have some fun! It can be a joyful time. Don’t forget to laugh! It will keep everything else in perspective. Indeed, being with amiable, like-minded people, letting your hair down and having a good laugh will help you stay in balance this month.

The Shadow Energy: This can be a period of doubt when you must confront your inner fears, including a fear of being alone. The life experiences you may go through during this time are varied – health problems, relationship issues, problems you’re your job, legal issues, and so on – but the common thread is feeling like you are on a lone path walking through a dense jungle. Your progress may feel blocked and you can have trouble finding your way. You can feel like you are lost and in limbo waiting to be delivered back into the fullness of life. If you see the people and events during this period as part of the archetypal hero’s journey, it may help you to move through it. Be audacious. It is not a time for sissies.

There can be a natural tendency to avoid problems and issues that you need to confront head-on. You can become ego-bound and adopt unhealthy behaviors that include a fierce defiance of authority, as well as deriding or blaming others for problems that are really your own outward projections. Conversely, you may find others blaming, deriding or even mocking you at this time.
